The City College Fund supports CCNY in its contributions to the cultural, social and economic life of New York. Recently, in response to the need to diversify and expand New York's economy, the Fund helped the College to establish the Zahn Innovation Center through grants from alumnus Irwin Zahn'48 and the Moxie Foundation, and Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer.
It is NYC's first hardware start-up offering space, equipment, seed funding, and expert technical and entrepreneurship advice to CCNY students, faculty, alumni and community members seeking to develop their own companies. The Center also funds more than $100,000 in prize money each year for the Zahn Entrepreneurship Prize, The Kaylie Hardware Prize, and The Zahn Social Innovation Prize.
Through its services, the Zahn Center will enable CCNY's students to pursue their entrepreneurial and social innovation goals while they are still in college, a truly remarkable opportunity. These students will be better prepared and more likely to start their own business or serve as valuable employees for startups, particularly in New York.
